Man wanted for murder now in police custody

A man wanted in connection with the deadly shooting of a Shreveport man last week has been arrested in Memphis, Tennessee.

Authorities with the Memphis Police Department, along with assistance from Agents with the United States Marshals Fugitive Task Force, were instrumental in making the arrest of 19-year-old Andrew Smith on Sunday May 12, 2013.

Smith, who was wanted on an outstanding warrant for second degree murder in the shooting death of 21-year-old Prentiss Brittion, was captured at a home in Memphis, Tennessee after authorities acting on a tip responded to the residence. Smith was taken into custody without incident.

As the investigation into the case continues, additional information regarding the capture of  Smith will be forthcoming.
