SULPHUR, LA — On September 6, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office detectives were dispatched to an elementary school in Sulphur after receiving a call from the Department of Children and Family Services in reference to a report of cruelty to a juvenile.
Upon arrival, detectives observed a 6 year old boy with numerous marks and remnants of duct tape all over his body. The investigation revealed family member Brandon L. Sullivan, 31, Westlake, used duct tape to tie up the little boy’s hands, wrists, ankles, and also put duct tape around his head. Detectives also discovered Sullivan physically abused a 7 year old family member by biting the boy in the chest area.
During further investigation, detectives discovered Sullivan’s girlfriend Christy Willhite, 27, also a family member of both victims, had witnessed the abuse and failed to report the incidents.
When questioned by detectives, Sullivan confirmed he tied the 6 year old victim up with duct tape and had bitten both victims in the chest area. Willhite confirmed to detectives that she had witnessed the incidents and failed to report them.
Sullivan and Willhite were arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and both charged with 2 counts of cruelty to a juvenile each.
Judge Clayton Davis set Sullivan’s bond at $400,000; and set Willhite’s bond at $200,000.
The victims were removed from the home by the Department of Children & Family Services.
