Shreveport, LA — A local man is left recovering from minor injuries following an overnight shooting in Shreveport's Cherokee Park neighborhood.
Just before 10:00 p.m. on December 12, 2013, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the 800 block of Navajo Trail relative to reports a man had been shot near a wooded area next to an apartment complex. Upon the arrival of officers, the victim, identified as 20 year old Jimmy White was observed suffering what appeared to be two gunshot wounds to the lower extremities. White was subsequently transported to University Health Shreveport for what was described as non life-threatening injuries.
Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives as well as Crime Scene investigators arrived at the scene, launching an inquiry into the matter and collecting evidence. Preliminary investigation suggests White was shot during a physical altercation which involved several males at a nearby home in the 800 block of Navajo Trail. Authorities are working at this hour to gather additional information regarding the facts of the case as well as identity and apprehend the suspect in the shooting. Persons with information about the incident are urged to contact Caddo Crimestoppers at (318) 673-7373 or on their website at www.lockemup.org
