A man and his girlfriend were killed Monday morning in a Caddo Parish house fire.

According to state fire marshal investigators, firefighters were dispatched to a home ablaze in the 5400 block of Community Street around 11:30 a.m. When crews arrived at the scene, the mobile home was engulfed in flames.

After the two-bedroom home fire was brought under control, officials found the bodies of Adonis Walker, 35, and Hanna Hawkins, 32, in the master bedroom. The victims each had a child living in the home, but the kids were at school during the incident. They are now with relatives.

Investigators determined the blaze began in a bedroom on the opposite end of where the victims were found. The cause of the fire has not been identified, but authorities suspect electricity supplied to the home by extension cords played a role. No working smoke alarms were in use at the time of the incident.

The bodies were processed on the scene by investigators and released to the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office for autopsy. State investigators, along with Caddo Parish Sheriff’s Deputies, continue to investigate the cause of the fatal fire.

Neighbors first reported the fire, said state officials.
