Man drowns in Toledo Bend Lake

Monday, December 10, 2012 - 8:26pm

Sunday evening, Sabine Parish Sheriff's Office got a call about a man who went missing in the Toledo Bend Reservoir. They immediately sent out a rescue team, but the thunderstorms made it harder for them to find the missing fisherman.

They stayed out looking for the man all night, and at daybreak on Monday morning, the dive teams started to go out looking for him again.

After several hours searching the part of the lake where the man and his friends had been fishing, the dive team was able to recover 22 year old Justin Wilson.

Wilson had been fishing with two friends and was bringing his boat in when it slipped away. Wilson and one of them men swam into the water to get the boat, but Wilson didn't come out of the water.

While this is the first drowning that the De Soto Parish Dive Team has had to help out on this year, they hope that this unfortunate accident will serve as a reminder to everybody just how dangerous the lake can be.
