Man arrested for firing shots on school grounds after hours

On Tuesday afternoon, Bossier City Police arrested a man for shooting a gun in front of local school during a disturbance last week involving a large group of people.

Detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit arrested Tyron Jamarsay McGee, 20, of Bossier City, on charges of illegal use of a weapon, felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a firearm on school property in connection with an incident that happened in the 4200 block of Van Deeman Street in front of Sun City Elementary School.

On 7:30 p.m., Friday night, McGee is accused of firing several gunshots toward a group of individuals as they were leaving the scene.

Later that night police were informed that one round struck the muffler of a vehicle that was parked in the school parking lot.

Some faculty members were inside the school at the time of the incident. 

On Monday morning school personnel discovered that three rounds had struck the front of the school.

In the course of the investigation detectives were able to develop McGee as the suspect who fired the shots and arrested him.

No injuries were reported.

Bond has not been set.
