Man arrested for attempted murder after shoot-out at Baton Rouge bar
Baton Rouge, La — Baton Rouge Detectives arrested Billy W. Hoover, 45, late last night after a shooting that occurred at a bar off of Florida Blvd.
At 10:30 p.m.last night, the accused entered the Longbranch Saloon in an irate, aggressive manner.
One of the victims approached Hoover and attempted to calm him down. A fight then erupted between Hoover and the victim.
The victim with some help from witnesses forced Hoover out of the establishment and locked the doors. Hoover returned to his vehicle and retrieved a handgun. The victim then armed himself in fear of Hoover harming him.
According to witnesses, Hoover began firing at the victim and the victim returned fire. During the exchange the victim was struck in his side and two other victims were hit in the leg. None of the injuries were life threatening.
Hoover was located and arrested shortly thereafter on Florida Blvd and charged with three counts of Attempted First-Degree Murder and Illegal Use of a Weapon.
