LSU Health Shreveport offering free prostate cancer screenings

September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month and to in recognition of that, the Feist-Weiller Cancer Center's Partners in Wellness at LSU Health Shreveport will be offering free prostate cancer screenings to eligible men.

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in US men, affecting close to 218,000 people this yearm killing about 32,000. Many people will not show symptoms, so screenings and early detection are key.

Screenings will be available Tuesday, September 18 and Wednesday, September 19. Appointments are available from 9am to noon and 1pm to 4pm. Call 318.813.2225 for scheduling or for more information.

Partners in Wellness is located in the LSU Health Shreveport Medical Center on the corner of Kings Hwy and Linwood Ave, on the second floor above the Emergency Room.

The following are eligible for a free screening:

African American Men - 45+ years
Caucasian Men - 50+ years
40+ years of age for any man, if immediate family members have been diagnosed with Prostate Cancer
