The Louisiana State House passed a bill Monday that bans unrestrained dogs from riding in the back of trucks. Lawmakers want to make sure the animals are safe without causing an inconvenience for hunters.

Representative Dorothy Sue Hill, a Democrat for District 32,  addressed the House on Monday saying, "As you know I live and represent a redneck area and we have a lot of hunters and they hunt around our house and hunt in our area and all I do is say load up dogs."

House Bill 1091 would require dogs be restrained in a crate or on a leash when riding in the back of trucks.
