A longtime Shreveport coaching legend has died

Former Northwood High School head coach, Jerry Burton, died on Wednesday from a heart attack.

Burton dedicated 29 years of his life to Caddo Parish.

While at Northwood High, he also was a p.e. teacher and a head track coach.

Burton won 81 games and led the team to the quarterfinals twice during his time. 

Burton is survived by his wife, two daughters, and one son.

He was 73-years-old.
