Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — Shreveport Police detectives have arrested a local man accused of domestic abuse battery following an ongoing investigation.
Just before 4:00 a.m. on September 29, 2013, Shreveport Police responded to the 2000 block of Grimmett Drive relative to an assault and battery call.
Upon officer's arrival at the home, contact was made with an adult female victim who advised her boyfriend came to her residence, engaged in a verbal argument with her and committed a subsequent battery upon her person.
The man, identified as Devin Kennedy, 34, of the 7000 block of Fern Avenue in Shreveport, allegedly grabbed the woman about the neck and began to choke her repeatedly. Kennedy reportedly left the home following the incident and was not on scene at the arrival of authorities.
On Wednesday, during the course of the continuing investigation, Shreveport Police Domestic Violence detectives gathered evidence supporting allegations made by the victim. Based upon the evidence collected during the probe, contact was initiated with Kennedy who arrived at Shreveport Police headquarters on October 3, 2013. Following interviews with detectives, Kennedy was arrested and subsequently charged with a single count of domestic abuse battery with strangulation.
Kennedy was booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
