Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — Two local men are behind bars in connection with a shooting that occurred earlier this month in Shreveport's Cherokee Park neighborhood.
On September 3, Shreveport police officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Mayfair Drive relative to a reported shooting.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers learned a 16-year-old boy had been shot once in the upper body.
The teen, which was taken to a local hospital, survived the incident and continues to recover. Authorities obtained information suggesting the teen was shot while at Mamie Hicks Park, located just blocks away from where he was located by police. It is believed the teen ran from the park after being struck and later collapsed in the 300 block of Mayfair Drive.
During a continuing probe into the shooting, Shreveport Police investigators have arrested Jeremy Madison, 25, and 17 year old Jay'veon Arthur, 17, in connection with the shooting.
Madison was placed under arrest and now faces attempted first degree murder charges while Arthur was arrested and charged with illegal use of a weapon for his alleged role in the incident. Both men were booked into the Shreveport City Jail.
