Shreveport, La — Hundreds of Isaac evacuees began leaving the Shreveport shelter, returning to St. john the Baptist and Plaquemines Parishes Tuesday morning.

In a surprising resolution, state officials decided overnight to empty the shelter on Jewella Avenue and close the hurricane shelter.

All day long, evacuees boarded buses headed for southern louisiana to a transitional shelter in St. Johns Parish.
