Ark-La-Tex (KMSS) — Tax season is starting to kick in. Ads on different services are everywhere you go, but not everyone can afford paid tax filing help.
Not to worry, The IRS has Volunteer Income Tax Program (VITA) which is for there for those who need to file their taxes but simply cannot afford costly tax services.
Laurence Guidry, president of the Caddo Community Action Agency said they have hosting the free tax preparation service for 42 years.
"We can do it electronically right here, where they don't have to put it in the mail, unless they choose to do so. We try to get their taxes done for them and get them out within 25 to 30 minutes of time if they have all the correct and accurate information."
Guirdry adds that volunteers with the VITA program are trained by the IRS and take refresher courses regularly.
The VITA program exists nationwide.
