I Love the Ark-La-Tex: The Boggy Creek Monster
Fouke, Arkansas (KMSS) — As of the 2011 census, there were 864 residents of Fouke, Arkansas, but it's the elusive 865th that has tourists from all over the world coming to the tiny Arkansas town. I didn't want to be left out, so I headed out there to join in on the search of the Boggy Creek Monster.
The monster was first allegedly seen in 1946, but once he made it to the silver screen in 1972's Legend of Boggy Creek, even more people came forward, announcing they had also come across the monster.
Townspeople fall on either side of the fence when it comes to believing in the monster, although Denny Roberts, owner of Monster Mart, prefers to error on the side of caution, saying he straddles the fence when it comes to the legendary monster.
But I wasn't going to give up without a hard search. I checked out soybean fields; the monster must be a fan of edamame like me, he's been spotted hanging out with the yummy beans. I checked out the creek where he got his name. I even searched the spooky woods where he had most recently been spotted.
I didn't have any luck until I found went back to Monster Mart, where the Boggy Creek Monster was waiting to greet me.
