Bossier City, La (KMSS) — For six decades, fire fighters have fueled MDA's mission to find treatments and cures for life-threatening muscle diseases.
Funds raised through the 2014 Bossier City Fill the Boot events will help support MDA's programs of worldwide research, specialized health care services, and day-to-day support – which includes sending children affected by muscular dystrophy and related diseases to a weeklong, barrier-free MDA summer camp at Starlight in Pollock La.
The Fill the Boot program also helps MDA raise awareness and provide professional and public education about neuromuscular diseases.
Thursday morning management from Horseshoe Casino and Harrah's Louisiana Downs endured cold temperatures to raise funds to benefit children and adults affected by muscle disease throughout the Ark-La-Tex.
The proceeds of the money raised will go to the Bossier City Fire Fighter’s “Fill the Boot” drive that supports the Ark-La-Tex MDA.
After getting sprayed down by fire houses in the fountain at Horseshoe Casino, casino managment presented the local MDA chapter and Bossier City Fire Department with a check for $2,500 to help "fill their boot" as their raise money for MDA.
