Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — A local organization is joining many across Louisiana and Texas in a lawsuit against the Environmental Protection Agency.
A lawsuit involving Shreveport based Residents for Air Neutralization accuses the EPA of using outdated and inaccurate formulas to report emissions from refineries and chemical plants across the two states.
“My thing is they are out here to protect the people, then why do the people have to get out and find ways of showing that refineries is not right, that's their job," said President Velma White.
White has been advocating against Shreveport based plant, Calumet. The suit was filed yesterday in the U.S District Court in Washington D.C.
Officials from the EPA could not be reached for comment.
