Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Ken Florence, Jr. of Shelbyville as district attorney of the 123rd Judicial District in Shelby County for a term to expire at the next general election.
Florence is an assistant district attorney of Shelby County and formerly worked in private practice. He is admitted to practice law in Texas, Alaska, and California, and before the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fifth and Ninth Circuits, and the U.S. Supreme Court. Florence is vice president of the Shelbyville Water Supply Corporation, a member of MENSA International, and a past member of the State Bar of Texas Pro Bono College. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserve.
Florence received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and a law degree from the University of California at Davis School of Law.
