Wednesday afternoon, the interchange of the 20 and the 531 in Webster Parish officially became the Sergeant Joshua Tomlinson Interchange.

In a dedication ceremony, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) honored fallen Army hero Sergeant Joshua Tomlinson, giving his parents a replica sign as DOTD, friends, family, and state officials looked on.

24 year old Sgt. Tomlinson of Dubberly, was killed in active duty on May 18, 2010, in a suicide bomb attack. Tomlinson was serving as part of the Army's Special Troops Battalion in Operation Enduring Freedom.

The memorial interchange, initiated by House Bill 486, was written by Representative Gene Reynolds. Reynolds was also Tomlinson's principal at Lakeside High and knew him well, saying, "he will always be that student with a smile and character that we would like from all our children. We now honor Sgt. Josh Tomlinson for his service and sacrifice with this tribute that will keep his memory alive forever."
