ORIGINAL: Detectives are working to apprehend a former Shreveport firefighter who allegedly made threats against the fire department.

Just after 5:00 p.m. on July 11, 2014, Shreveport Police officers were notified by members of the Shreveport Fire Department command staff that they had received information a former fireman had allegedly made posts on a social media website that were threatening in nature. Police department administrators immediately assigned a marked patrol unit to the fire station mentioned in the posts and ordered detectives to investigate the matter.

Based on information and evidence gathered during their ongoing inquiry, authorities believe 51 year old Derrick Harris made posts on Facebook threatening certain members of the Shreveport Fire Department as well as Central Fire Station. Working closely with the Caddo Parish District Attorney’s Office, investigators subsequently obtained an arrest warrant charging Harris with one count of terrorizing. His bond has been set at $250,000.

Police are searching for Harris, whose last known address was in the 6700 block of Rasberry Lane, but have so far been unable to locate him. As of Monday at 4:45, Harris had yet to turn himself in or be arrested.

KMSS has reached out to both Harris and his attorney, but neither has responded to our requests.
