Flu on track to be as prevalent as 2004
Ark-La-Tex — LSUHSC got it's first case of the flu confirmed in October, and since then the numbers have grown drastically. Thursday, about 25% of the patients in the hospital's emergency room were there with flu like symptoms.
While the very young or old and those that are sick otherwise should always see a doctor when they feel the flu coming on, for most people fluids, rest and some over the counter medicines are all that the doctor ordered.
With this flu season on track to have the most cases since 2004, people without a flu shot are spinning the flu roulette. It's not too late to get a flu shot, and this year's dose covers the strand of the flu most people are contracting.
With so many people coming down with the flu, doctors have only 2 things to say: get a flu shot, and if you already have the flu, stay home, take vitamins and drink some orange juice.
