The Bossier City Fire Department responded to a fire Wednesday morning in the 2600 block of Douglas Dr. that heavily damaged a house.

Firefighters were called to the scene around 10:30 AM.

The first crews that arrived found smoke and flames coming from the front of the structure.

The fire appears to have originated in the kitchen.

Crews had the fire under control in about five minutes and managed to keep it contained to the kitchen area.

The occupants were home at the time and managed to escape without injury.

Firefighters also rescued the occupants' pet dog from inside the home.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
