If a company is looking to hire a new employee, why not hire a veteran? That was the reasoning behind Thursday's military only career fair put on by Recruit Military.
200 job seekers registered to meet with the 25 different recruiters, both for jobs and education. Unlike other career fairs, this one was only open to ex-military and military families.
Many of the exhibitors were veterans themselves, remembering how hard the transition was when they re-entered civilian life.
Louisiana Tech was on site, along with other schools, reminding people about their Shreveport and Barksdale campuses. They also stressed that vets need to use their G-I Bill, because there is a shelf life on it.
A counselor from Samaritan Counseling explained that vets sometimes have a hard time transitioning back from military life, so events like this one are crucial to making them feel included and comfortable.
Veterans seemed really excited about how the event went, one keeping his fingers crossed for happy news on the job front.
