SHREVEPORT-- An electrical fire in the Highland neighborhood this morning caused evacuations and chaos as a hospital, school, police headquarter and the state building affected.
The failure of electrical equipment in a half-mile area may have been the cause of the elevator motor fire at Sutton’s Schumpert Childrens hospital.
At least three floors of the Shreveport hospital were evacuated and patients were relocated to other floods unaffected by the smoke. No one was hurt in that incident.
Only minutes early the Louisiana State Building just around the corner from the hospital was also evacuated as smoke also reported in some floors of the building.
Students from Loyola College Prep school were dismissed as well and Shreveport police headquarters without power as well.
There were no reported injuries.
