East Texas Baptist University sues the Department of Health and Human Services

East Texas Baptist University is standing up for what they believe in. In this case, they believe that they shouldn't have to offer their staff the morning after pill and others like that. Pills of the sort would have to be offered under the Emergency Contraception part of President Obama's Affordable Care Act.

They don't want to offer this medication, and that's why they decided to file a lawsuit again the Department of Health and Human Services.

Not everybody supports their decision. The President of the Shreveport branch of the National Organization of Women doesn't see why the university feels the need to intervene, stating that women and their physicians should be in control of their medical decisions and no one else; including employers.

Some religious organizations were granted immunity from this part of the Affordable Care Act, but East Texas Baptist University was not one of them.
