Drought conditions looking good in the Ark-La-Tex

Monday, February 11, 2013 - 8:50am

Residents in the Ark-La-Tex have another reason to celebrate. After almost a full year of drought conditions, the majority of the region is no longer suffering from a drought.

For the most part, people living south of the 30 are out of drought conditions, while those living north of the 30 are still in a drought, although conditions are improving. One area that the Shreveport branch of the National Weather Service is especially concerned about is the area of southeast Oklahoma and the adjacent counties of southwest Arkansas, as they are still in a severe drought.

While all of the recent rains may not have always been wanted, they are the reason that conditions have changed. With rain expected to continue, the National Weather Service doesn't expect the region to fall back into drought conditions during the spring and summer months.
