Doyline evacuations to be lifted Friday at noon

Thursday, December 6, 2012 - 8:28pm

After almost a whole week of moving the dangerous M6 propellant on Camp Minden, Louisiana State Police have moved about 2 of the 6 million pounds that they need to move.

While they're only about a third of the way done, they think that they have moved enough of the illegally store explosives that there is not longer a threat to the town of Doyline.

Friday at noon, the recommended evacuation of the town will be lifted and life will go back to as it was before Louisiana State Police found Explo's improperly stored explosives. All roads that were closed will be opened at that time as well.

Kids will have one more day of freedom, school will remain closed on Friday, but will reopen in time for class on Monday.

And even better, the scheduled tournament will go on, although it will be at Lakeside High School instead of Doyline.

This Saturday's voting will remain at West Lake Baptist Church, located at 2587 HWY. 163 in Doyline.
