DNA matches convicted burglar to additional crime
Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — Thanks to modern technology, a convicted burglar has been linked to an additional crime in west Shreveport.
Back on August 9, 2012, officers were dispatched to a reported burglary at a home in the 7000 block of Gregory Street. When police arrived on scene, the homeowner told authorities that a person(s) had broken a window and stole several items, including a flat screen TV and laptop computer.
Investigators were able to recover blood at the crime scene. The evidence was then turned over to the North Louisiana Crime Lab for analysis.
Detectives received word Tuesday that DNA evidence recovered from the crime scene came back as a match to Savarea Stickman,19, of Shreveport.
Based on this evidence, authorities produced a warrant for the arrest of Stickman, who is currently in jail on other burglary convictionscte. Stickman now faces additional charges of simple burglary of an inhabited dwelling with a bond amount of $50,000.
