DNA lands accused Shreveport burglar behind bars

An accused burglar is now behind bars thanks impart to DNA evidence.

Shreveport Police investigators have charged a local man accused of burglarizing a trio of Shreveport addresses, after DNA evidence recovered from the crime scenes was matched to the offender’s. Ricky Polo, 51, of the 6200 block of Greenwood Road in Shreveport, was charged in connection with a business burglary that occurred back in May of 2013 in the 2000 block of Fairfield Avenue. In addition, Polo was also linked to two other burglaries, each occurring back in September 2013, where residences in the 200 block of East Fairview Street and the 9000 block of Smitherman Drive were burglarized.

Polo was identified and linked to each crime after investigating patrol officers recovered evidence at the crime scenes which was later submitted to the North Louisiana Crime Lab for analysis. Polo remains housed at the Caddo Correctional Center where he now faces charges of: Aggravated burglary, Simple Burglary of an inhabited Dwelling and Simple Burglary.
