Livingston Parish, La — An inmate at the Livingston Parish Detention has died.
Darrin Norton, 35, was booked into the Detention Center on June 16 on charges of aggravated criminal damages to property, criminal trespass, and resisting arrest.
Norton was being moved to an observation cell for his safety following reports of unusual behavior. Norton became violent and at least two deputies were injured before Norton was restrained.
The Coroner’s preliminary report reflects the cause of death unrelated to the altercation. Lab results are pending and the matter is being investigated by detectives with the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office and the State Police.
