Caddo Parish, LA (KMSS) — The Caddo Sheriff’s Office is checking to see if alcohol or fog may have been to blame for a deadly accident this morning.
The crash happened around 6:45 on the 1, just south of the 2, at Trees City Road. A preliminary investigation led investigators to believe that a 2001 Mercury Marquis heading south veered onto oncoming traffic, hitting a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer going north. From there, the Mercury spun out of control and was hit by a 1999 Ford F-150 going north.
A second Ford truck drove into a ditch avoiding the accident.
The driver of the Chevy, 39-year-old Keshia Claiborne-Ashley of Shreveport, and the driver of the Ford, 30-year-old Mark Ross of Mooringsport, were both taken to the hospital with moderate injuries.
The passenger in the Mercury died at the scene. The driver of the Mercury was taken to the hospital. Their names are being withheld pending family notifications.
The crash remains under investigation by the Caddo Sheriff’s Traffic Safety Unit. They are checking to see if alcohol or fog may have been a factor in the accident.
