The students and faculty at Bellaire Elementary School in Bossier have been eagerly anticipating a visit and today they got it. Best-selling children’s author Jan Brett spent the day with students to encourage reading.

She has over 38-million books in print and is said to be one of America’s most popular children’s authors.

Brett, who is a resident of Boston and was suppose to run in the Boston Marathon the morning of the bombings but couldn’t due to being ill says, “she was glad to make the trip to Bossier City”.

The students were able to beat over 29,000 other schools in a contest to get the special visit and she says she was very impressed by the student body.

“A lot of my time is spent, by myself in my eye room, I’m just with the characters and our kids are grown up so its just a pleasure to see all the children, especially all they really inquisitive face," said Brett.
