Cell phone safety to be taught in schools
Beginning this year, Louisiana educators will have new material to factor into their lessons plans-teaching kids about the dangers of cell phones. Teachers are already required to tell students about the potential dangers of the Internet, including cyber-bullying and online predators.
In a press release, Rep. Valarie Hodges said she sponsored the bill because of the increasing threat of child predators, especially with regard to online pornography. Parents we talked to say it's a good idea. "It's never a bad thing to do something to help children be more safe," said one.
Schools will be able to decide how they want to implement the lessons into their curriculum. They're due to start this school year.
