A Carencro man is accused of striking his father at least four times with a samurai sword.

The Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office was called to a home on the 100 block of St. Esprit Road on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at roughly 3:00 p.m. When they arrived they found the victim suffering from several “chop like injuries” to the hands, arms and head.

The victim told deputies that his son, Albert Brice Prejean, 32, struck him several times with a samurai sword. He said he was at his son’s house to counsel him regarding a domestic issue. While they were talking, his son walked out of the room and came back with the sword. Investigators say the victim’s wounds were defensive and believe Prejean was attempting to strike his father’s head.

Officials say Prejean received a cut to his leg as well. He allegedly fell while holding the sword, causing the wound.

Both men were transported to a local hospital for treatment. We’re told both men suffered from non-life threatening injuries and are expected to recover.

Once he is medically cleared, Prejean will be arrested and booked into the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center. He is charged with one count Attempted Second-Degree Murder.
