Caddo Sheriff Steve Prator said he is making the Caddo Sheriff's Regional Training Academy firing range available to the public for sighting in rifles for the upcoming deer season.

Six days have been designated for the public to make use of the facility: September 30, October 1-3, October 5, and October 12. The range will be available from 7:30 a.m. until noon on each of these days.

Targets will be furnished and shooters will be assisted by state-certified firearms instructors. Participants must call ahead and reserve a time to work with instructors. Shooters must provide their own ammunition, eye, and ear protection, and should arrive with weapons unloaded.

The Academy is located at 15639 Highway One South, directly in front of Lock and Dam #5. To register, call the Academy at 681-0735. For additional information, contact Sgt. Jim Carroll or Cpl. Jim Dunn also at 681-0735.
