Bossier Parish, La — Bossier Parish Community College is pleased to be one of 13 colleges in the state to host the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs’ (LDVA) statewide student Veterans outreach tour.
The LDVA will visit colleges and universities across Louisiana in “an effort to connect with student Veterans during the first weeks of the 2012 fall semester,” according to the press release issued by LDVA. The LDVA mobile outreach vehicle will be available to student Veterans from 9:00am – 1:00pm on Tuesday, August 28 in the front drive to Building A on the College campus, 6220 E. Texas Street, Bossier City, LA.
"Student Veterans are an important part of every Louisiana college and university population," says Lane A. Carson, Secretary of Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs. "LDVA wants to make sure every student Veteran has the information about the benefits he or she earned through their military service to be successful in their educational pursuits."

Jobs, BPCC is pleased to serve the educational needs of both veterans and active-duty personnel and their families all over the world,” says Susan Stakes, BPCC’s school-certifying official for veteran education. “Being a host to the statewide outreach tour ensures our student veterans that we are dedicated to not only providing them knowledge in the classroom but knowledge on how their benefits and programs can best serve them.”
LDVA representatives will be on hand to provide information regarding a number of Veteran benefits and programs such as:
- GI Bill
- VRAP and On The Job Training Programs
- VA Work Study Program
- Changes to TOPS qualifications regarding Veterans
- VA benefits
- Vocational Rehabilitation Center
