Bossier Parish Community College is proud to announce a new program: Advanced Manufacturing and Mechatronics as part of its Division of Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. This program is in concert with the Louisiana Economic Development (LED) FastStart program, Certification 4 Manufacturing, or C4M.

This program consists of four college courses that can be completed in one semester (16 weeks) and covers the essential skills needed in the modern manufacturing environment including: Principles of Manufacturing (safety, quality, lean manufacturing, and teamwork), Tools and Equipment, Automation, and an Introduction to Fabrication, Process Technology, and Machining. This program incorporates class lectures, laboratory work, and independent study. BPCC is excited about the new program.

“Today is a new day in manufacturing,” said BPCC Chancellor Jim Henderson. “Today’s employers need employees with advanced skills. They need problem solvers and trouble shooters. They need employees who have savvy computer, programming, and mechatronic skills. BPCC is excited to work with LED to bring this state-recognized, industry certification to the area and to develop a program in Advanced Manufacturing looking forward to meet our area industry needs.”

This program will help interested students train for new manufacturing jobs with area industry partners. Companies are guaranteeing interviews to qualified completers of the C4M program.

For anyone interested in this program or interested in the local manufacturing industry, BPCC is hosting a public interest meeting:
