A correctional officer in Bowie County was arrested Friday morning for allegedly touching an inmate.

On July 23, the Bowie County Sherrif's Office was contacted by a local FBI agent who told authorities of a reported sexual assault at the Bi State jail involving Correctional Officer Kristopher Williams.

The victim alleged the sexual assault happened in areas of the jail hallway not covered by security cameras. This area is known as "the side door." Investigators reviewed hours of video involving both people involved this case. Video from July 9th and July 13th showed Williams and the victim in the "side door" area. The victim was seen walking playfully away from Williams and smiling.

Officer Williams admitted to inappropriate touching of the victim, but claimed it was consensual after several months of flirting from the victim. Based on probable cause, a warrant was obtained for Kristopher Williams for improper sexual activity with a person in custody. His bond was set at $7,500.00.
