Bossier Sheriff's Office seeks horse enthusiasts for mounted patrol

The Bossier Sheriff’s Office is seeking volunteers who enjoy riding horses and are interested in becoming part of the agency’s ceremonial Mounted Patrol unit. The equestrian team will represent the Bossier Sheriff’s Office at community events in non-law enforcement duties, such as parades, rodeos, and events throughout the parish.

“We have many of our residents who are avid horse riders, and I want to provide for them an opportunity where they can be part of something special with their Bossier Sheriff’s Office,” said Bossier Sheriff Julian Whittington.

Trail riders, professional riders or those who simply enjoy riding horses are encouraged to sign up. Riders must have their own horse, tack and necessary supplies, as well as a way to trailer the horse. The horses should be well-broken and able to work in crowds of people. Men and women of any age are encouraged to register.

Those interested in becoming a member of the Bossier Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol unit should call 965-3411 to sign up. Interviews will then be coordinated in January.
