With the heavy outbreak of the H1N1 virus across the country, The Bossier Parish School System is taking precautions.

Over a dozen flu cases have been confirmed at Waller Elementary School. As the flu virus continues to spread, school officials are being more cautious.

"Our school nurses have been educating the faculty and teachers about the importance of hand washing. That’s the number one thing that we can all do to prevent the flu and that is to wash our hands with soap and water," Said Sonja Bailes.

The system is also keeping a close eye on attendance numbers to help pin point where more students are becoming sick.
