DALLAS, TX — People in Texas are remembering a fallen state fair icon.
Here you can see folks gathered in Dallas Monday for a memorial to say goodbye to Big Tex.
The 52 foot tall animated statue that greeted people at the state fair for 60 years. It was reduced to ashes in a fast burning fire Friday
The Dallas Morning News reports the inferno was sparked by an electrical short that started in the statue's right boot.
No one was hurt.
The newspaper reports state fair officials plan to rebuild the statue in time for next year's fair.
