More and more students are deciding against tradition college and picking technical or trade schools, like cosmetology school.

There are 8 cosmetology schools in Bossier and Caddo Parishes, and part of the reason, according to Lisa Ramirez of Virginia College, is speed. Students was to have a fast paced and career focused education.

Numbers are up at schools like Virginia College, A'Timberly Mapp, the cosmetology program director there, says there has be a 25-35% increase in the number of students in the past 5 years. The increase in students shouldn't make it hard for them to find a job after graduation, this field is predicted to employ over a hundred thousand people by 2020.
