Barksdale Lt. General nominated for promotion

President Barack Obama has recognized one of Barksdale's own, nominating Lt. Gen. James M. Kowalski, for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general and for assignment as deputy commander, U.S. Strategic Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb.

Nominated to replace him as AFGSC commander is Maj. Gen. Stephen W. Wilson, who is currently serving as commander, Eighth Air Force (Air Forces Strategic), Air Force Global Strike Command, Barksdale Air Force Base, La. Wilson has also been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general.

While Barksdale is saddened about losing Kowalski, they are pleased his hard work has been recognized by President Obama.

Nominations will now go to the Senate for confirmation.
