Shreveport, La — A failed bank robbery attempt led to a failed purse snatching Friday afternoon.

A Shreveport police spokesman says a man,later identified as 38 year old Johnny Jackson, walked into the Region Bank in downtown Shreveport and handed a teller a note, but for unknown reasons, the robbery failed.

Jackson ran from the bank and tried to take a purse from a woman on a nearby street corner, but as luck had it, a group of people tackled the man, holding him until a nearby off-duty officer arrived.

The bandit is currently in police custody and is being questioned.
