Authorities are working to identify and apprehend a man they believe robbed two convenience stores overnight in west Shreveport.

At approximately 7:55 p.m. on June 17, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers responded to a report of a robbery at the Valero gas station in the 2000 block of West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop. Upon arrival there, patrolmen learned a white male suspect, described as four feet eleven inches to five feet tall wearing dark, heavy clothing with a dark colored face mask and gloves, entered the business armed with some sort of weapon concealed by a white cloth and demanded money from the clerk. The bandit took the entire cash drawer from the register and then fled the store in what was described as a gold vehicle. The employee was not injured.

Less than five hours later, police were called out to the Circle K in the 3300 block of West Bert Kouns Industrial Loop relative to a robbery. When officers arrived, they discovered a white male suspect, approximately four feet eleven inches to five feet tall wearing white shorts, a long-sleeved white shirt, with a black jacket, black hat and a grey or tan mask over his face, burst into the store armed with some type of weapon covered by a black bag and demanded money. The robber received an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene of the crime in a tan or gold vehicle, possibly a Chevrolet. The clerk was not injured.

Based on information gathered during the early stages of their investigation, detectives believe the same suspect is responsible for both of these crimes and they are working with the businesses at this hour to obtain surveillance footage of the robberies. Anyone with any information regarding this man is urged to call detectives at 318-673-6955 or Shreveport-Caddo Parish Crime Stoppers at 318-673-7373.
