Authorities looking for man accused of Shreveport stabbing
Shreveport, La — Police detectives are searching for a local man in connection with a stabbing that occurred last weekend in Shreveport.
At approximately 11:30 p.m. on September 15, 2012, Shreveport Police patrol officers were dispatched to the 2900 block of Samford Avenue relative to a stabbing. Upon arrival patrolmen found 54 year old Lonzo Woodson of Shreveport suffering from multiple lacerations to his upper torso. Woodson was subsequently transported to a local hospital by the Shreveport Fire Department with what has been described as non life-threatening injuries.
Investigators immediately responded to the scene of the crime and, upon further investigation, discovered Woodson and a man known to him, later identified as 38 year old Melvin Deon Washington, were involved in a physical fight after Washington reportedly attempted to attack him. During the altercation, Washington allegedly pulled a knife and stabbed Woodson before fleeing the scene.
On September 20, 2012, investigators were successful in securing an arrest warrant charging Melvin Deon Washington with a single count of attempted second degree murder. Washington, of the 4900 block of Durham Place in Shreveport has a bond set at 500,000 dollars.
