Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — Authorities have obtained a warrant for the arrest of a local man accused of murder in west Shreveport Thursday morning.
Just after 3:30 a. m., Shreveport Police responded to a call of a shooting in the 600 block of Central Street.
Upon officer's arrival at the scene, contact was made with members of the Shreveport Fire Department, who confirmed that a male adult victim had been shot at least once in the upper body while on the premises. The man, identified as 58-year-old Walter Howard of Shreveport, was transported to LSUHSC where he later succumbed to his injuries.
Shreveport Police Violent Crimes detectives arrived on scene immediately launching an investigation.
Through their efforts, authorities gathered information linking 49 year old Gregory Johnson of Shreveport to the crime. It is believed that Johnson and Howard were engaged in a dispute that led up to the fatal shooting. During the dispute, Johnson reportedly arrived at Howard's residence armed with a handgun and fired numerous rounds through the homes front door after being denied entry.
Johnson, who is still outstanding at this time, is being sought on an outstanding warrant for second degree murder. Bond in the matter has been set at $250,000.00.
