Jefferson Parish, La — An armed robbery suspect who was handcuffed managed to disappear from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office after he was brought in for questioning.
The Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office reports that the department began investigating an armed robbery that happened at roughly 1:00 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 4. We’re told a man approached a couple in Harvey, La and pulled a gun on them. The suspect allegedly took the victim’s wallet and iPhone.
Investigators were able to use the victim’s iPhone tracking app to locate the phone, which was traced to a home on Rose Drive in Gretna. Deputies went to the home and located the suspect, Harry J. Mitchell, 24, as well as the iPhone.
Mitchell was taken into custody for questioning. He was handcuffed and left in an interview room. At roughly 8:00 a.m., investigators discovered that Mitchell was gone, but the cuffs were still attached to the floor plate.
Deputies are currently using K-9’s and air support to search for the Mitchell.
Mitchell is a black male, 5’10” tall, 150 lbs, brown eyes, black hair with dreads, thin mustache and a goatee. He has tattoos of “504” on his left forearm, the word “Snuggs” on his left forearm, “Deshia” is written on his right forearm along with a fleur-de-lis. He was wearing a white T-shirt, blue jeans, and black tennis shoes.
