6 men indicted for gang rape of 16-year-old Texas girl

Six men are facing have been indicted in connection to a gang rape of a 16-year-old girl reported earlier this year.

Waco Police Department says the victim reported she had been raped while at a local hospital.

Waco Police Department Sergeant Patrick Swanton said they were first notified of the incident on April 23. Warrants were secured for the suspects on May 8.

Officers were called to the hospital and informed of the teen who had been examined for sexually assault. They learned the victim had skipped school earlier in the day and left with several people she knew. Those suspects then took her to a home in the north Waco area where they allegedly had sexual contact with her.

Detectives were able to determine through investigation and forensic interview that all six suspects had sexual contact with the victim against her will.

The following people were arrested and charged with sexual assault of a child:

•Devoric Javon Evans, 20, 13 counts aggravated sexual assault of a child, two counts sexual assault of a child

•Douglas Demond Canada, 19, 13 counts aggravated sexual assault of a child, three counts sexual assault of a child

•Lamont Tray Davis, 19, 13 counts aggravated sexual assault of a child, two counts sexual assault of a child

•Daytron Derrell Smith, 18, 13 counts aggravated sexual assault of a child, two counts sexual assault of a child

•Cory Darnell Hall, 18, 13 counts aggravated sexual assault of a child, two counts sexual assault of a child

•Dejuan Oshea Degrate, 18, 13 counts aggravated sexual assault of a child, two counts sexual assault of a child
