Shreveport, LA (KMSS) — A Caddo Parish man is in jail this evening as part of an ongoing investigation into alleged criminal activity at a local fire station.
In late July of 2013, Shreveport Police investigators initiated an inquiry into a complaint received by the department relative to criminal activity alleged to have occurred at a Shreveport Fire Station in the 3400 block of Velva Street. Based upon information gathered during their in-depth investigation, authorities obtained an arrest warrant on August 2, 2013 charging 50 year old Derrick N. Harris, an employee of the Shreveport Fire Department, with one count each of cruelty to the infirm and principal to prostitution. On August 5,6, and 12th 2013, as part of the continuing probe, authorities procured additional arrest warrants charging 26 year old Clint Richardson, 37 year old Billy Glass, and 34 year old Jason Vaughan also Shreveport Fire Department employees, with one count each of cruelty to the infirm and principal to prostitution. Each man was subsequently booked into the Caddo Correctional Center with bond amounts of $105,000.
Today, that ongoing investigation has led to the arrest of another Shreveport Fire Department employee. Randy Chandler 51, was arrested on a warrant charging him with one count of cruelty to the infirm. The investigation continues at this hour and police believe additional arrests may be forthcoming. Chandler, of the 200 block of Douglas Drive in Stonewall, Louisiana, surrendered to authorities at the Caddo Correctional Center where he was subsequently booked. Bond in the matter has been set at $100,000.
